PET PERSON SHIPPING MEME!

PET PERSON SHIPPING MEME

>> premise

Hello, and welcome to The Care and Keeping of Your Pet! As you surely know, a pet is a big responsibility, and we're so glad you've decided to be a concientious master. A safe pet is a happy pet, and this handbook is certain to keep your precious lifelong friend as content as can be.

The history of the animal person is a long and difficult one, with their origins not being known even to this day. However, scientists believe that despite our common appearance - most animal people have humanoid forms except for the ears, tails, and sometimes teeth - we share no common ancestry, even if the ascent of this species corresponds with that of the homo sapien. We gained dominance over each breed thousands of years ago, beginning with the dog type, who have long been considered "man's best friend." Most breeds these days are docile and perfect for owners of any speed.

Of course, it is our duty as the superior species to take care of these animal creatures, and this is inherent in their genetic makeup. Everyone knows that an animal person, when matched with their correct human master, is loyal for life - a true "soulmate," if you will. Far be it for us to turn this away! Ever since the Great Domestication, these intelligent and loving animals have served us as friends, workmates, guardians, servants, and sexual companions and will for years to come. Despite recent hubbub from so-called "Pet People's Rights Activists," this way of life is wholesome and good. Scientific research shows that the natural desire of the pet person is to be owned and cared for by a human.

So, it's your first pet. What do you need to know?
As previously stated, pet people come in as many breeds as you can possibly think of. By far and away the most popular are the dog and cat types, but exotic birds and lizards have been gaining popularity among trendsetters from L.A. to Tokyo!
All pet types are best suited for certain jobs, and when hunting for one, it is best to search for a type that suits your needs best.
However, a "True Match" - when a pet person bonds with you and only you for the rest of their natural lives - comes naturally, and sometimes takes time before you can find the pet you will be able to give a forever home to.
According to all current research, pet people are completely sentient and like us in many ways. However, it is important to remember that they have many animalistic and feral characteristics. Do not be foolish and think that your pet is a person, despite the facts that many are clothed and may be allowed to read, write, and have "hobbies." Some traditional pet owners may eschew these frivolities, and that is within their right.
Pet people age more quickly than humans, at least physically, and many types have long lifespans. It is not uncommon for pets to be passed through the family. When getting your child their first pet, it's important to keep in mind that just because the pup is tiny now, a grown pet can be jumpy around a small child.
It is important to train a pet. Discipline will be necessary. This does not make you a bad owner. Failure to train early will result in a rebellious pet. Training is especially important if you want your pet to serve as a household servant.
Remember, your pet will be extremely protective of you, especially if you are Truly Bonded. It is best to socialize them early. A socialized pet is a perfect family pet.
These days, unowned and unbonded pet people are allowed to live as strays or "Frees" in certain designated areas. Some even hold "jobs." This is against their best interest, and owners who adopt these strays are to be rewarded. Still, the best place to get pets are from liscenced kennels or breeders.
Some masters find it beneficial to participate in activities with their pets, such as shows and other competitions.
Finally, much has been made about the sexual relationship between pet and master. This is a normal facet of the bond, and humans are sure to find pet people sexually alluring. But beyond that, it is only responsible and prudent for owners to care for their pet's needs. It is a well-known fact that the libidos of pet people are remarkably strong, and when they go into heat, it is usually more convenient for a master to relieve them. There is no risk of pregnancy. All rumors of hybrids are urban legends.
Despite this, masters must remember to not view their pets as romantic partners. Humans should stay with humans.

With that said, thank you and welcome to your first day as a pet's master!

>> how to play
Needless to say, The Care and Keeping of Your Pet is a bit biased and full of propaganda, but it gives a good idea of the world your character is now AU's into. They are either a pet person or a human master, and what that means for them varies.

So are they a devoted pet or a rebellious animal person looking to buck the system? A generous master or a cruel sexual sadist? Just a normal pet owner? Most likely they're something in between, but when you're raised in this world, it's difficult to see anything different on the horizon.

Rules
Comment with your character and say whether they'd be a master or a pet. Ideally, they could be played as both. Mention what kind of each they'd be and what they'd be like, (ie: "Xx-chan is a bunny girl who is happy to please her master" or "Asterothia is a cat boy who is aloof but loyal to his true master"). For pets, be sure to include features ("wolf ears, tail, teeth).

REMEMBER, pet does not automatically equal submissive and master automatically equal dominant. This is not a BDSM setting though BDSM can be included. How far you want to go with the actual "pet" aspect is up to you, as well. Your pet could just be your slightly-furry roommate or soulmate!
Comment to others.
Play out the scene.

>> prompts
This by now means an all-inclusive list, but it should get you going in the right direction.

First Time Pet/Owner: Usually, pets are gotten at a young age; you're an old dog. Can you learn new tricks?
True Bond: What all masters and pets yearn for...the pet's loyalty and adoration for life.
Love: It's expected for masters to love their pets, but to love them? Romance is strictly forbidden.
Old "Couple": Master and pet have grown together and know each other. You know, know each other.
Loss of Master: The pet has lost their master, perhaps even their True Bond. Is it possible to move on?
Young Master/Older Pet: Pets age quicker than masters, so it's possible to end up with a bit of an "age" difference.
Family Pet: This pet's been raised as part of the family. What happens when their feelings for a family member get more than platonic.
For Your Protection: You don't want to be a master, but you have to take in a pet for their protection lest they be in danger from the general public.
Stray: You're a stray or a "Free." Can you live like this with your biology screaming for you to make a match?
Servant: You're more servant than pet.
All Sex, All the Time: The only purpose for this pet is to service the master, and not in a way that means cleaning their house.
Guard: You're a loyal bodyguard, a service pet. You'll do anything for your master. Anything.
Pet Play: This is for those who prefer to keep their animals on leashes, have them eat from bowls, and keep away from clothing.
Breaking In: Training is important with any pet.
In Love with Another Master...or Pet: To lust after another's master is no better than treason, and to wish to be with another pet just cruel!
Punishment: Bad dog, no nookie!
Heat: All pets go into heat, and it's the responsibility of the owner to take care of this problem. After all, unchecked dry humping kills thousands every year.
Breeding: Breeders know the best qualities in each type and mate the cream of the crop together to continue lines. It's a hobby for some, a calling for others.
Pregnancy: So, about that whole "hybrid" thing. It maaaay be more true than you think, even if pet/human pregnancies are the stuff of salacious tabloids.
Territorial: Hey, hey, other dog person! This is your apartment. Stay the fuck out!
Kennel: Kennels are where unadopted pets are kept. They're generally agreed to be depressing places. Why not volunteer at one, keeping the pets healthy and happy with the kind of affection only humans can show?
Rebelling Against the System: Damn the Man! Pet people are people, too! Just be careful not to get talk. You know what happens to bad pets.
Instant Attraction: You ever just look at someone and know they're the one? That they're...your master? But what if you've been trying to fight it? Well, don't try!
Dominant Pet: You might be the pet, but you call the shots, at least in the bedroom.
Pet Show: Everyone wants to show off how perfect their animal is. Look at that ass! And you'll never believe their special skills...
Therapeutic: Pets, especially those bred for their kindliness, are perfect therapy for those who've been through trauma and heartache.
Jealousy: Who's that around your master? Oh, hell no. They better not be touching them!
Petting: Pet people are absolutely gaga for being touched. Even the most steely ones turn to mush for rubs.
Games: Playing with your pet and giving them exercise is a key to happiness. Of course, with a pet person, you might want to use other toys instead of a ball.

Peter meowed a long bleat, slowly blinking his eyes open at Wade. He seemed fine, at least, when he happily turned himself over into Wade's embrace, all happy rumbles and sleepy nuzzles. Was it time to start the day already? The prospect of food woke him up a little more, and Peter yipped eagerly at Wade.

This damn cat was so adorable. Especially when he was sleepy. Wade would remember this.

He pushed up off the bed, giving Peter another quick Pet before he got up off the bed. He had to look back at Peter again. So cute. "You hungry, Petey Pie? I can make us some breakfast," he yawned and walked off to the kitchen.

When he looked in the cabinets and the fridge though, they didn't have anything to cook. Not even pancake mix. He was so ashamed. He had cereal? "I got cereal, buddy. Is that okay? I'll go to the store later and get you better food. I promise."

Peter mewled again, stretching out languidly on the bed. Again, god, he looked a little ridiculous, this long-limbed creature sprawled out across Wade's bed. He got up, trailing after Wade into the kitchen and rubbing at his eyes.

There didn't seem to be anything to eat, though Peter was a little busy looking out the kitchen window in fascination at the street below. He refocused when Wade started talking to him, offering a quizzical noise.

Wade's heart couldn't handle Peter's cuteness. He still looked sleepy and it was incredibly cute.

"Cereal?" he asked again, pointing to the box of fruity pebbles. He was a terrible owner. Who fed their cat cereal? Really? "Is this okay, Petey Pie?" He walked over to his pet, his hand smoothing over the soft hair. "We'll get better stuff later, I promise."

Peter hummed and rubbed his head around against Wade's palm before nodding. Whatever Wade wanted to give him was fine; Weasel was right, Peter wasn't suited for the streets at all. He was just giving Wade his trust implicitly because he was supposed to be his new master.

Not that Peter wasn't fond of him already. His human. He'd staked his claim.

This poor, sweet creature was stuck with Wade. Wade, of course, not seeing anything wrong set Peter up with a bowl cereal and sat down at the kitchen table.

"After this, I'll go out and get you some goodies and some non-shitty food," he said around a mouth full of cereal. He felt so much guilt for putting his pet through this terrible meal.

It took him no time to plow through his food. After he was finished cleaning up, he got his wallet and keys before heading to the door. He needed to go to the pet store and the grocery store, but then he'd back to spend more time with his new pet. "Alright, Petey Pie. I'm going to run some errands, but I'll be back." He headed to the front door.

Oh, there wasn't anything wrong with them at all. They complemented each other; Peter was able to get to the soft, gushy parts of Wade he didn't want to show to anyone else, and Wade would be more than capable of taking care of him.

Peter downed his cereal, crunching thoughtfully. His ears moved back against his head as he chewed, and he ended up draining the bowl of milk with a happy meow.

Peter chirped from the couch, confused, when Wade started heading for the door. He got up to follow him, giving another inquisitive noise.
beaarthur: (Before | eyebrow raise)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-07 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
It was true. Peter seemed to get past all of his defenses like it was nothing and Wade would do everything he could to keep Peter safe and happy.

Wade turned around at the noise. "What? I'll lock the door. I'll even turn the television on for you so you don't feel alone," he turned the television on, Pokemon reruns playing on it. "How about that?"

He scratched behind Peter's ears and then opened the front door, taking a couple of steps out.

Peter let out a quiet, almost sad mewl, blinking as Wade scratched behind his ears and promptly left him alone. Well, that wasn't going to do at all. He scrambled to the paper Weasel had left where - ah, there was his leash. It took Peter a second to clip it on - he wasn't used to doing it himself - before made for the door.

A second of hesitation before his determination kicked in and Peter unlocked the door, following after Wade, primarily by scent.

Wade was walking out to his jeep, ready to head to the pet store when he looked back and saw Peter, leash on and ready to go. Wade could contain himself, he immediately started laughing, absolutely tickled by Peter's stubbornness. "You're coming with me, huh?" He couldn't say no if he was so determined. Wade was weak like that.

Honestly, it would be nice to have company anyway.

He walked back toward the front door, petting Peter gently before locking the door back up. "Alright, come on, Petey Pie."
spideyguy: (29)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-07 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter sidled right up next to Wade and let out a long, very obviously specific meow, placing the end of the leash in Wade's hand. Yes, he was. Like he was going to let Wade out of his sight after last night. Not that Wade needed to know that.

Peter yipped, tail swishing behind him as he followed Wade to the jeep.
beaarthur: (Before | laugh)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-07 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Wade arched his eyebrow and took the leash, laughing as they walked out to his jeep. Weasel did good choosing Petey Pie. He unlocked the car, opening the door so Peter can get in.

"We're going to go to the pet store to get you some stuff first and then we'll go grocery shopping, 'kay?" He gave Peter a gentle pet before going around to hop in on the driver side of the vehicle.

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-07 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter climbed into the car, though he didn't buckle himself. He a) didn't really understand how and b) was way too busy sniffing around Wade's car curiously, the fast food and gasoline smells mixing with Wade's natural scent.

Another chirrup, more than happy to go wherever Wade wanted, and Peter nuzzled into Wade's hand, watching through the windshield as he rounded the car.
beaarthur: (Before | laugh)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-10 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Here, let me get that," Wade said as he hopped in the jeep and reached over to buckle Peter up. His curiosity was adorable.

They went to the pet store and the grocery store. Wade bought way too many toys and vitamins and brushes and anything he could think of that Peter would need. And when Wade came home, he had to take three trips to get everything into the house. But it was good! He had never bought healthier groceries in his life. The majority of it was all fresh and he planned on cooking healthier for Peter's sake. Fortunately, a cookbook for pets' dietary needs was in his pile of books he got from the pet store.

That was only the beginning of a huge change for Wade. A few months went by and he went from a depressive recluse to a much more stable human being. Everything that Weasel said that therapy animals were good for was true. Peter's affection and company was more than Wade could have asked for. His nightmares went from nightly down to one or two a month and he had more energy than he had in years.

Though everybody was getting sick of him talking about his cat. He was that person. His facebook was full of pictures of Peter. Peter napping on the couch with his tail curled up around him. Peter batting at a bottle cap. Five million more pictures of Peter just being a normal cat with Wade's caption of, 'LOOK AT HOW CUTE HE IS.' Wade had a problem. A serious problem.

And Weasel made sure to state this often.

Currently he was on the phone with Weasel, sprawled out on his couch. "I don't understand why you're so pissed off when you were the one that got me the fucking cat."

"Look. I didn't know that you would become a cat lady, dude. All I'm asking is that you post like... five less pictures of the cat's face a day. I feel like this is an acceptable request." Weasel snarked over the phone.

Wade's hand was currently in Peter's hair, petting him without even realizing it. Weasel continued to bitch about Wade flooding his facebook feed until they both agreed to disagree and Weasel hung up. What? Yeah. He had a problem. He knew it. But Peter's face was so cute and people needed to see it and recognize his cuteness.

"It's okay for me to show how great you are, right, Petey Pie?" he said as he scratched Peter in all the right places.

Peter had been working hard alongside Wade these past few months, settling into their new life together. Wade was flourishing, motivated to push past his depression and take care of himself. The apartment got cleaner, they ate healthier. Wade's nightmares became far less frequent, and while they still spent a lot of time on the couch watching TV, it was unusual for Wade to spend more than two days straight in his apartment. They went out together, be it to the park or just to get ice cream.

And Wade was happy. Peter could absolutely tell the difference. His tired, perpetual frown had morphed into a small half smile that lingered, one that Peter found he could turn into a full blown grin pretty much anytime, with a little bit of effort.

That's not to say they still didn't have some struggles. There would always be the occasional setback, but Peter thought they handled them the best way they knew how. And for all Wade's improvements, Peter still hadn't spoken yet. He wasn't ready, it wasn't time yet - Peter couldn't pull that comfort out from under him, much as he might have to bite his tongue, sometimes, to stop from saying something. Wade needed him mute, needed to work out his insecurities and fears without worrying about what Peter thought of him.

Peter rolled around on the couch next to Wade, letting him itch allll the best places. Hey, if Wade wanted to take pictures of him, Peter would totally pose. Letting Wade lavish him in attention and affection was no hardship.
beaarthur: (Before | grin)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-10 12:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Wade continued to scratch and pet Peter, a dopey grin on his face. "You are so freaking cute! I can't take it. Jeez, Petey."

He yawned, arms going up in the air as he stretched. It was still pretty irritating that Weasel was getting so pissed off over the picture thing after he was the one that got him Peter. What the hell did he expect? It was obvious that Weasel recognized the loneliness in Wade, so how could he not realize that his big teddy bear of a best friend would go apeshit over an adorable pet? Wade had a serious weakness for all things cute and Peter was the absolute cutest, hands down.

Wade leaned over and kissed the top of Peter's head before he gave him one more pet. "Okay, buddy. Today is a serious day. There is a Golden Girls marathon on and I refuse to miss it. But! We can go to the park before it starts." Wade had been trying to take Peter to the park more lately. He thought that socialization with the other pets might be good for him. "How does that sound, snookums? Hang out with the other cats. Maybe get yourself a girlfriend OR boyfriend. Sorry. I don't know your preference, dude."

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-10 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter leaned up and sprawled himself across Wade's lap, all but batting his eyelashes at Wade. Wade always seemed to think everything he did was cute and he kind of loved it.

He let out a long meow, rubbing his face against Wade's. Other cats were nice, but most of them weren't service animals. So when Peter couldn't talk, they judged him for it. Well, it didn't matter; he had Wade, and that was all he needed.

Another purr, this time with a little chirrup of question, and Peter rolled in Wade's lap. Did he really want Peter to start humping someone in the park? Honestly.
beaarthur: (Before | grin)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-10 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Everything Peter did was cute. It was a fact and Wade would argue with anybody that said otherwise.

Wade's heart went to his throat at the little chirrup. This damn cat and his damn adorable noises. He scratched over Peter's ribs, yawning again. "God dammit. Why do I keep yawning. Ack. Alright. So park? You want to go to the park? Check out the other pets?" He didn't want to move because Peter was being cute, but it was for the greater good.

It would be nice to get some fresh air anyway.

Peter let out a cute little growl, pawing at Wade's leg. He'd be less tired after they went out and did some walking. Getting outside improved mental health, too, which was why Peter sometimes agreed to more walks than he might have wanted.

Other pets. Peter's tail swished and he nodded, rubbing his cheek against Wade's hip. For Wade, sure, he would try and make friends.
beaarthur: (Before | laugh)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-11 08:10 am (UTC)(link)
Suddenly his insides were mush. He would repeat it: everything Peter did was cute. His hand stroked through Peter's hair when the cat rubbed his cheek against him.

Wade got up, walked across the room and reached for Peter's leash by the door. "Come on, cutie. Let's go be social."

Peter jumped up with a yip and walked over so Wade could clip the leash to his neck.He was always so willing to be leashed at Wade's side, where some pets preferred the freedom to move around, to explore their environment more thoroughly.

Another yip and Peter picked up a catnip mouse, putting it into Wade's pocket to take with them. He had a penchant for letting Wade hide it in the grass and then sniffing it out; one of their little games.
beaarthur: (Before | side look)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-12 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
Yup. Wade was officially dying. He arched an eyebrow when Peter put the mouse in his pocket. It was cute. He loved watching Peter try to sniff out the mouse. He was quick, too. There was nothing that could stay hidden from his Petey Pie.

"Let's go, buddy," he said as he opened the door and locked it behind them.

The drive to the park was quick. It was just down the street, fortunately. There were already a lot of other people playing with their pets. Frisbees were being thrown, animals were sniffing each other curiously. These were now Wade's kind of people. They understood him and his five million photos of Peter on his Facebook page.

Wade got out of the jeep, waiting for Peter. "Wow. There are a lot of people here today, Petey Pie! Look at that cat over there, she's good looking." He pointed to a pretty cat off to their right.

Peter mewled cutely at the arched brow, blinking innocently back at Wade. He knew he wouldn't deny him the simple pleasure of playing hide and seek with the mouse. Wade acted like sunshine streamed out of Peter's ass, honestly.

He yipped again, sniffing the air and looking around at all of the activity. It was a really nice day, so it wasn't too surprising to see so many people and their pets out and about. He turned his attention dutifully to the cat Wade was pointing out. She was definitely out of his pedigree, but Peter let out a little growl anyway. Mostly for Wade, honestly, because he knew she wasn't going to look twice at him.
beaarthur: (Before | laugh)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-13 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Wade really did think the world of Peter. So yeah. He would do whatever if Peter gave him the sad eyes. Honestly, he just loved seeing his pet happy.

"What a stud. Those other cats wouldn't be able to resist you, Petey," Wade laughed. The growl was cute.

He walked out into the grass, plopping down on a bench a little ways from where that female cat was. Just in case. Wade wasn't going to cock block Peter. That would be rude. Peter deserved the utmost happiness.
spideyguy: (CAT)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-13 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Peter meowed once at Wade, pausing to glance back at him when he sat on the bench. Guess he wasn't coming with, which, okay. Peter would go over and sniff, get rejected, and come back to play with Wade. At least he tried.

The female cat is blonde and beautiful, chasing a butterfly in the grass. Peter meowed at her, joining in the chase. Surprisingly, she meowed back and brushed against his side as they went after the insect.
