PET PERSON SHIPPING MEME!

PET PERSON SHIPPING MEME

>> premise

Hello, and welcome to The Care and Keeping of Your Pet! As you surely know, a pet is a big responsibility, and we're so glad you've decided to be a concientious master. A safe pet is a happy pet, and this handbook is certain to keep your precious lifelong friend as content as can be.

The history of the animal person is a long and difficult one, with their origins not being known even to this day. However, scientists believe that despite our common appearance - most animal people have humanoid forms except for the ears, tails, and sometimes teeth - we share no common ancestry, even if the ascent of this species corresponds with that of the homo sapien. We gained dominance over each breed thousands of years ago, beginning with the dog type, who have long been considered "man's best friend." Most breeds these days are docile and perfect for owners of any speed.

Of course, it is our duty as the superior species to take care of these animal creatures, and this is inherent in their genetic makeup. Everyone knows that an animal person, when matched with their correct human master, is loyal for life - a true "soulmate," if you will. Far be it for us to turn this away! Ever since the Great Domestication, these intelligent and loving animals have served us as friends, workmates, guardians, servants, and sexual companions and will for years to come. Despite recent hubbub from so-called "Pet People's Rights Activists," this way of life is wholesome and good. Scientific research shows that the natural desire of the pet person is to be owned and cared for by a human.

So, it's your first pet. What do you need to know?
As previously stated, pet people come in as many breeds as you can possibly think of. By far and away the most popular are the dog and cat types, but exotic birds and lizards have been gaining popularity among trendsetters from L.A. to Tokyo!
All pet types are best suited for certain jobs, and when hunting for one, it is best to search for a type that suits your needs best.
However, a "True Match" - when a pet person bonds with you and only you for the rest of their natural lives - comes naturally, and sometimes takes time before you can find the pet you will be able to give a forever home to.
According to all current research, pet people are completely sentient and like us in many ways. However, it is important to remember that they have many animalistic and feral characteristics. Do not be foolish and think that your pet is a person, despite the facts that many are clothed and may be allowed to read, write, and have "hobbies." Some traditional pet owners may eschew these frivolities, and that is within their right.
Pet people age more quickly than humans, at least physically, and many types have long lifespans. It is not uncommon for pets to be passed through the family. When getting your child their first pet, it's important to keep in mind that just because the pup is tiny now, a grown pet can be jumpy around a small child.
It is important to train a pet. Discipline will be necessary. This does not make you a bad owner. Failure to train early will result in a rebellious pet. Training is especially important if you want your pet to serve as a household servant.
Remember, your pet will be extremely protective of you, especially if you are Truly Bonded. It is best to socialize them early. A socialized pet is a perfect family pet.
These days, unowned and unbonded pet people are allowed to live as strays or "Frees" in certain designated areas. Some even hold "jobs." This is against their best interest, and owners who adopt these strays are to be rewarded. Still, the best place to get pets are from liscenced kennels or breeders.
Some masters find it beneficial to participate in activities with their pets, such as shows and other competitions.
Finally, much has been made about the sexual relationship between pet and master. This is a normal facet of the bond, and humans are sure to find pet people sexually alluring. But beyond that, it is only responsible and prudent for owners to care for their pet's needs. It is a well-known fact that the libidos of pet people are remarkably strong, and when they go into heat, it is usually more convenient for a master to relieve them. There is no risk of pregnancy. All rumors of hybrids are urban legends.
Despite this, masters must remember to not view their pets as romantic partners. Humans should stay with humans.

With that said, thank you and welcome to your first day as a pet's master!

>> how to play
Needless to say, The Care and Keeping of Your Pet is a bit biased and full of propaganda, but it gives a good idea of the world your character is now AU's into. They are either a pet person or a human master, and what that means for them varies.

So are they a devoted pet or a rebellious animal person looking to buck the system? A generous master or a cruel sexual sadist? Just a normal pet owner? Most likely they're something in between, but when you're raised in this world, it's difficult to see anything different on the horizon.

Rules
Comment with your character and say whether they'd be a master or a pet. Ideally, they could be played as both. Mention what kind of each they'd be and what they'd be like, (ie: "Xx-chan is a bunny girl who is happy to please her master" or "Asterothia is a cat boy who is aloof but loyal to his true master"). For pets, be sure to include features ("wolf ears, tail, teeth).

REMEMBER, pet does not automatically equal submissive and master automatically equal dominant. This is not a BDSM setting though BDSM can be included. How far you want to go with the actual "pet" aspect is up to you, as well. Your pet could just be your slightly-furry roommate or soulmate!
Comment to others.
Play out the scene.

>> prompts
This by now means an all-inclusive list, but it should get you going in the right direction.

First Time Pet/Owner: Usually, pets are gotten at a young age; you're an old dog. Can you learn new tricks?
True Bond: What all masters and pets yearn for...the pet's loyalty and adoration for life.
Love: It's expected for masters to love their pets, but to love them? Romance is strictly forbidden.
Old "Couple": Master and pet have grown together and know each other. You know, know each other.
Loss of Master: The pet has lost their master, perhaps even their True Bond. Is it possible to move on?
Young Master/Older Pet: Pets age quicker than masters, so it's possible to end up with a bit of an "age" difference.
Family Pet: This pet's been raised as part of the family. What happens when their feelings for a family member get more than platonic.
For Your Protection: You don't want to be a master, but you have to take in a pet for their protection lest they be in danger from the general public.
Stray: You're a stray or a "Free." Can you live like this with your biology screaming for you to make a match?
Servant: You're more servant than pet.
All Sex, All the Time: The only purpose for this pet is to service the master, and not in a way that means cleaning their house.
Guard: You're a loyal bodyguard, a service pet. You'll do anything for your master. Anything.
Pet Play: This is for those who prefer to keep their animals on leashes, have them eat from bowls, and keep away from clothing.
Breaking In: Training is important with any pet.
In Love with Another Master...or Pet: To lust after another's master is no better than treason, and to wish to be with another pet just cruel!
Punishment: Bad dog, no nookie!
Heat: All pets go into heat, and it's the responsibility of the owner to take care of this problem. After all, unchecked dry humping kills thousands every year.
Breeding: Breeders know the best qualities in each type and mate the cream of the crop together to continue lines. It's a hobby for some, a calling for others.
Pregnancy: So, about that whole "hybrid" thing. It maaaay be more true than you think, even if pet/human pregnancies are the stuff of salacious tabloids.
Territorial: Hey, hey, other dog person! This is your apartment. Stay the fuck out!
Kennel: Kennels are where unadopted pets are kept. They're generally agreed to be depressing places. Why not volunteer at one, keeping the pets healthy and happy with the kind of affection only humans can show?
Rebelling Against the System: Damn the Man! Pet people are people, too! Just be careful not to get talk. You know what happens to bad pets.
Instant Attraction: You ever just look at someone and know they're the one? That they're...your master? But what if you've been trying to fight it? Well, don't try!
Dominant Pet: You might be the pet, but you call the shots, at least in the bedroom.
Pet Show: Everyone wants to show off how perfect their animal is. Look at that ass! And you'll never believe their special skills...
Therapeutic: Pets, especially those bred for their kindliness, are perfect therapy for those who've been through trauma and heartache.
Jealousy: Who's that around your master? Oh, hell no. They better not be touching them!
Petting: Pet people are absolutely gaga for being touched. Even the most steely ones turn to mush for rubs.
Games: Playing with your pet and giving them exercise is a key to happiness. Of course, with a pet person, you might want to use other toys instead of a ball.

The eskimo kiss really surprised him. Jeesh. So much affection. It was like he was overloaded. Wade went from no affection to like, all the affection in a very short amount of time. He would be lying if he said he wasn't enjoying it. No wonder so many people had pets nowadays.

Poor Peter. He was going from the best of the best to horribly made, greasy garbage. But it was tasty at least!

Hopefully this is something Wade would learn quick as soon as he got those books on owning a pet. Wade picked up his soft taco and took a huge bite, a glob of sour cream and salsa falling out the other end. "Chomp on it like this, Petey Pie," he said around a mouthful.

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-06 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Believe it or not, Peter had the capacity to be even more obnoxiously affectionate. Give it time, though, and you might get sick of it - like when he demanded a space in your bed and stole all your blankets.

Best of the best for his health, but not by taste. The grease gave it flavor, and Peter made a soft noise of approval, licking up a drop of grease from his finger.

He'd have to go out and stock up tomorrow. Weasel hadn't left him much in the way of instructions for taking care of the pet. Peter eyed Wade almost dubiously before picking up his burrito clumsily and biting into it. Oh.
beaarthur: (Before | umm...)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-06 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
The last person to ever complain about an abundance of affection was Wade. He may seem a little rough and tumble at first, but he was the world's biggest teddy bear. His reaction to Peter tonight was proof.

Wade needed to find a way to strike that balance between keeping Peter healthy and making sure he still enjoyed his food.

Tomorrow was going to be a big day for the both him. He didn't even know if he should leave Peter at home or take him with him or what. Wade set his soft taco down for a moment, head leaning on his palm as he watched Peter eat. It was so cute.
spideyguy: (CAT)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-06 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, definitely take him with. Peter would see to that, absolutely. He was a persistent little thing and if Wade would let him Peter would probably be curled up at his side 24/7.

Peter munched happily on his dinner, gaze flickering up to meet Wade's as he caught a little pile of ground beef that tried to escape his taco. He meowed his annoyance and licked at the grease on his plate. No, no escaping from him.

He wanted to ask, almost, about Wade and how he could help, but he still wasn't sure that was the best approach. Wade was watching him now, and Peter's tail thumped against the chair as he returned Wade's gaze and polished off his taco.
beaarthur: (Before | laugh)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-06 11:26 am (UTC)(link)
That was ultimately something that would make him happiest. But he was trying to play it cool right now (and was kind of failing at it) and would probably try to convince himself that he didn't need to take Peter everywhere. But when he was warmed up completely and actually admitted that Peter's presence was needed, they would be inseparable. Peter being persistent would be a big part of that, because Wade was stubborn as hell.

And fuck. Peter's irritation at his food was adorable. The little noises he made were so cute.

"Well, good to know that you like tacos. I'll remember that," he smiled as he finished eating his food.
spideyguy: (CAT2)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-06 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Play it cool with the cat, Wade, yeah, because that's going to work. He's a service animal, he's meant to go places anyway. He's meant to talk you down from a panic attack in the grocery store when a car backfires outside. It's what he does.

Peter gave a little chirrup in response, licking his fingers clean before he started grooming after his meal. This mainly consisted of running his fingers through his hair until he was satisfied, and stroking the fur on his tail back into place.
beaarthur: (AU Scars | what.)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-06 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
See? Deeply in denial: Wade Wilson. He felt like he'd be going to far and people would judge him if he had to take his cat everywhere, even if he was a service animal. This was the dumb bullshit that went through his head. But when he ended up actually have a panic attack at the store without Peter there and wishing he had actually taken Peter with him, that's when he'd probably realize that he was being dumb. Wade always had to go to the school of the hard knocks.

Even Peter grooming was cute. This was getting ridiculous. Wade grabbed both of their plates and headed for the sink, washing them quickly before putting the newly clean plates into the dish drainer. He wiped his hands off on a dish towel and yawned.

Yeah, it wasn't good to immediately go to sleep after eating, but man did he want to. He was exhausted. He was running off of maybe three hours of sleep from last night? Another nightmare woke him up in a panic and he spent a good hour and a half sitting on the floor curled up in a ball. So no, he didn't go back to sleep after that. This was something he had struggled with off and on for a while now. Ambien only seemed to magnify his nightmares, so he avoided that prescription all together.

Wade stretched, turning around to look at his new pet. "I think I'm going to go to sleep, Petey Pie. I can set you up a comfy space on the couch until I can get you something better if you're okay with that?" He made to go get some blankets and pillows from his closet.
spideyguy: (CAT)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-06 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
People judged you anyway, Wade, why let them judge you for something that made you happy? Peter may just be exactly what you needed, even if you didn't realize it. Only time would tell.

Peter perked up at the yawn, tilting his head and watching Wade stretch. Sleep? He could do sleep. Cat pets slept a little more than the average human anyway. Part of why Weasel got a cat, actually, where someone might have assumed Wade was a dog person - cats were of relatively lower maintenance.

He mewled and followed Wade into the bedroom. He sniffed around - definitely smelled like Wade in here, oh lord. If Peter wanted to he could probably find Wade's unicorn. Instead, when Wade eventually turns around, he'll find Peter curled up on his bed, kneading gently into a pillow.
beaarthur: (Maskless | contemplative)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-06 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Because Wade was dumb, that was why.

Wade turned around from the closet, blankets and pillows ready to fix up the couch and there was Peter being cute on his bed. He could figure where this was going. "So you're just making yourself comfortable there, are you?"

He just shook his head. "I'm assuming you don't want to sleep on the couch then?" Wade was too tired to argue. Though there was a feint flash of anxiety at the thought of having another nightmare. What if he lashed out at Peter? He would never be able to forgive himself. "Maybe I should sleep on the couch..." he mumbled.
spideyguy: (CAT2)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-06 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Hopefully not too dumb.

Peter gave a little yip, rubbing his cheek into Wade's pillow to leave his scent. He'd probably be doing that for the next week or so, marking every inch of space in Wade's apartment. And Wade, himself. Peter sat up a little when he saw Wade hesitating, tail swishing invitingly on the space next to him.

He whined softly when Wade muttered about taking the couch instead, sitting up fully and reaching out for Wade. If you go out to the couch Peter will probably end up following you anyway. Clearly he's a cuddle monster.

And if you have another nightmare, he'll be there to help.
beaarthur: (AU Scars | look down.)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-06 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah. Wade was actually a pretty intelligent person. He just worried about dumb shit.

Now how the hell was Wade supposed to resist that? Peter was reaching out for him. Wade hesitated, wondering if this was really okay. Weasel told him that was what therapy animals were there for, but it had been so long since he slept next to another living body, pet or otherwise. It made him anxious.

He sighed, giving in. Wade put the blankets and pillows back into the closet before slipping under the covers next to the animal. "Alright, alright. I'll sleep in here," he laughed but it sounded forced. "Just be careful. I have bad nightmares sometimes. I don't want to be stupid and hurt you." Even if Peter didn't talk, he still felt like the animal understood what he was saying, so he would keep talking to him like this.
spideyguy: (19)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-06 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter was trained in all manners of comfort. Whatever Wade needed, he was prepared for. Physical affection, emotional reassurances, or even the occasional naked variety of comfort - he did it all. For once in Wade's life, no expense had been spared. All Peter needed in return was a roof over his head.

He meowed happily when Wade slid into bed next to him, curling up loosely beside him. That was okay, if he thrashed. Peter rubbed his cheek against Wade's arm to let him know he didn't mind. Then he tucked in happily, warm and solid at Wade's side, and closed his eyes, tail brushing lazily against Wade's thigh.
beaarthur: (AU Scars | look down.)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-06 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Wade would gladly provide for Peter. Having a companion was a gift he didn't think he'd get after the explosion. It had changed his world completely.

"Happy now?" Wade laughed, his body relaxing at the gentle affection. His hand went up to bury itself in Peter's hair, petting lazily as Wade closed his eyes. Exhaustion crept up on him. How many times had he done this? Forced himself to power through a day on barely any sleep because he was so terrified of what his brain was going to conjure up when he was out. Too many times to count now.

This would be the big determining factor for him. If he could sleep better because of Peter, Wade would have no doubts about keeping his new pet forever. That would be a gift he couldn't get anywhere else.

"You comfortable, Petey Pie?" he asked, his words morphing into a yawn at the end.

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-06 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter hummed, a gentle, rumbling sensation that emanated throughout his chest, against Wade's side. It was fairly obvious how content he was, and he nuzzled easily into Wade's wandering hand, soft hair spilling between his fingers. Seriously, Wade could keep doing that forever, Peter was enjoying the hell out of himself.

He made another soft chirrup noise, nosing at Wade's neck. Urging him to give in and fall asleep, as he so desperately needed to. Peter could already tell Wade was so much more relaxed than he'd been when Peter first arrived.
beaarthur: (Maskless | shut eyes)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-06 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
The purring is what really did him in. It was so relaxing and Peter was warm and adorable. Maybe Weasel was right. He was already so much more relaxed than before. Wade continued to pet Peter as his eyes closed and he started to drift off. He was just so exhausted and this was the most comfortable he had been in such a long time.

Wade slept well for a good four hours before the nightmares began to kick in. His legs rustled in the blanket, eyes tightly squeezed shut and sweat pouring off of him in rivulets. It was the explosion. He could feel the searing pain. There was so much blood on his hands.
spideyguy: (56)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-06 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter listened carefully to Wade's breathing as it evened out, eventually snuggling up to him so his ear was right over Wade's heartbeat. He fell into a light doze like that, ear twitching against Wade's chest, tail curled over his thigh. The bed was comfortable too, which, what a plus.

Peter woke up when Wade twitched violently the second time, pupils dilating in the dark. He could feel something was wrong - call it an animal's intuition, if you will. Peter carefully extracted himself from Wade's side, sitting up next to him and taking in his current state.

He meowed softly, resting his hand on top of Wade's. He couldn't get too close, in case Wade lashed out, but he also wanted to provide as much comfort as he could and hopefully wake him out of it.
beaarthur: (AU Scars | what.)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-06 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
A scream ripped through Wade's throat as he sat up in a panic, eyes huge and full of fear. He didn't recognize where he was at first, a panic attack beginning to well up in him. His chest felt tight and he couldn't get a full breath. He was starting to wheeze as he put his head in his hands and cried. Why couldn't he get one full night's sleep without this mess?

Wade was so far gone he didn't even notice Peter next to him.
spideyguy: (16)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-06 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter let out a few quiet chuffs, not wanting to startle him. To his credit, he didn't jump when Wade screamed, nor when he started crying. Instead, Peter carefully approached, reaching out to run his fingers through Wade's short-cropped hair. He mewled again, softly, and knelt beside him, waiting to offer a hug. He didn't want to crowd him, either, especially when he was making that wheezing sound - his heartbeat was pretty frantic, too.
beaarthur: (Before | thinking)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-06 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Wade jerked at the touch at first, embarrassment flooding him as he remembered Peter. He was too much of a mess to talk, so instead he leaned into the touch on his hair. Wade was mortified. A big reason he avoided taking anybody home was because of this exact reason. The last thing he wanted was for someone to see him like this, pet or otherwise.

"Petey," he finally managed to get out, "--sorry." Wade felt horrible, still trying to take deep breaths and to ignore the tingling in his fingertips.
spideyguy: (CAT2)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-06 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter just gave a soft meow, rearranging himself next to Wade. He took one of the blankets and draped it over Wade's shoulders, then started stroking Wade's back, from the crown of his head all the way down his spine - as Wade had done hours ago for him on the couch. He started rumbling quietly, a soothing sort of vibration.

It seemed he'd been right, in his decision not to speak. Wade needed someone to just be there, someone he didn't have to pretend around for fear of them judging him. Peter offered another soft chirrup, butting his head lightly against Wade's shoulder, a reassurance.
beaarthur: (AU Scars | what.)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-06 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter's presence helped more than Wade realized. Usually he would be curled up on the floor as he gasped for breath. But here he was, sitting on his bed, being pet by his pet. The irony wasn't lost on him. He wouldn't complain though. It felt good and it was helping him focus on something other than the fear coursing through him.

Wade breathed in through his nose and out through his mouth, trying to slow himself down as the tears finally subsided. He wiped at his face and reached out to squeeze Peter's arm in thanks.

Weasel was definitely right. Wade looked at the time. Usually something like this would have him out of commission for an hour or two, but he was already starting to calm down. The panic attack didn't escalate this time because his intrusive thoughts had quieted. "Thank you."
spideyguy: (59)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-07 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Peter took that as his cue to scoot in a little closer, wrapping an arm around Wade's waist in a loose half-hug. One the man could escape if he wished to, or accept as comfort. It was all about boundaries with someone suffering the way Wade was, and Peter was being extra careful not to overstep any.

He gave a quiet, affirmative mewl and smiled, cocking his head to the side as if to ask how Wade was feeling. His heartbeat had already started to back down from the frantic pace, which was definitely a good sign.
beaarthur: (Before | thinking)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-07 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Wade melted into the hug, leaning heavily into Peter. The warmth of the animal was what anchored him in reality. He had to keep telling himself it was just a dream and that he was safe at home now.

"I'm okay, Petey Pie. This happens a lot," Wade said as he scrubbed his hands over his face. He still felt embarrassed, unable to look Peter in the eye. Wade was still so exhausted. He really wished that these stupid nightmares would stop.
spideyguy: (87)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-07-07 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Peter wrapped his arms more firmly around Wade, nuzzling his shoulder gently. It was okay, he was here, Wade wasn't alone. Not anymore. He didn't have to pretend he wasn't hurting; not in front of Peter, and maybe it would take time for Wade to grow accustomed to that, but it was true.

He leaned forward, kissing the tip of Wade's nose and letting out another drawn-out, gentle mewl. He hoped his expression conveyed the lack of judgement.
beaarthur: (AU Scars | look down.)

[personal profile] beaarthur 2016-07-07 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Wade's eyes filled up with tears again, but he refused to let them fall. How long had it been since he got a genuine hug? It would definitely take him a lot of time for that shame to go away. He was raised to not cry and that real men didn't have weak moments. So he had a lot of psychological crap to get through before he realized that it was okay for him to be like this.

"You are so sweet," Wade chuckled, hand going up to give Peter a gentle pet. "If you don't mind, I think I'll keep you," he admitted quietly, his body starting to go slack because he was still so exhausted. "Maybe I should lay down again for a little bit. See if I can go back to sleep. Got a big day tomorrow, Petey."
