[One of the realities about being a vigilante? Eventually you were going to end up hurt. Matt knew this all too well and both himself and his fellow crime-fighters, but he always hoped the others would take better care when possible.

It had been a few weeks since he'd collapsed bleeding in Peter's bed, half-dead from coming out the wrong end of a serious fight. Now it looked like it was the kid's turn to come out worse for wear.

To seriously understate the matter.

Matt brought him back to his own apartment this time, setting him down on the couch as the scent of blood permeated the air. Peter had accelerated healing, much better than his own, but he was still worried by the amount of blood. Who wouldn't be?]

I really don't think it's a good idea to just wait this out, Peter. There are people who could help. [Maybe. If he could get a hold of them.]

Nahhh. [Peter drawled out the word, reaching up one hand to lift his mask up enough to breathe. He a) didn't have enough energy to pull it off completely and b) didn't want to if Matt actually followed through on his threat of calling someone.

Being a vigilante was rough even on the best of days. At least now he had a friend willing to carry him somewhere safe, as opposed to just dragging himself to a rooftop to sleep it off.]

I've had worse. I mean really. [The blood was only mildly worrying. He was losing it pretty quick - ] Are you sure I should be on your couch? You're not going to get this stain out - [ - but regenerating it just as fast. Still, it'd be nice for the wounds to start closing.]

Need you to reset my shoulder. Before it knits back together, 'cause that'll suck if it does.

I'm not worried about a stain right now.

[He sighed, exasperation hiding some of his more serious concern. But first thing first- he grabbed that mask and tugged it the rest of the way off and tossed it aside.]

Alright. Shoulder first.

[Matt listened for bones not rubbing together properly, picked out which shoulder was the problem, and braced his hands on Peter's arm. He'd done this enough times on himself that it was only a matter of bending it the right way, and the bone went back into the joint with a painful sounding pop.]

What's next? [Oh, he probably should have offered some pain killers before he did that. Whoops?]

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-06-03 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
Well you should be, this is a nice goddamn couch. Maybe you won't notice the stain, but I'm sure you have guests that will.

[Peter made an indignant noise, making a feeble attempt to grab at the mask, but his injuries made him slow.] Uh, rude.

Fuuuuuck. [Peter grunted, jerking against the couch when Matt pushed his shoulder back into place. His healing kicked into gear once it was in properly, though, knitting the bone and sinew back together.]

Er - I might need stitches? I don't know, it's hard to tell if it's just spandex holding my organs inside my body or what. [Nah, don't worry about it. His healing burned through them faster than he could take them most of the time - it'd take a horse tranq to do him much good.]

[personal profile] jurisdevil 2016-06-03 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you think this is the first time there's been blood all over my couch?

[As for guests, he really only had a few, and those knew about his identity. He didn't invite just anyone into his home, had no reason to do so. They could easily meet him at the office if there was a need.

At the mention of stitches, Matt rose from where he'd been crouching next to the couch and started toward where he kept his first-aid supplies. While he wasn't used to stitching other people up, not anymore at least, he could still do it. Might not be the most even job ever, but if Peter guided his hand, it should be good enough.]

Well. Take off your costume and let's find out. [He knew those organs weren't about to fall out. He'd be fine after a little more patching up.]

Do you buy Shout in bulk? What's your secret, this thing was pristine when you dumped me on it.

[He wished he had that type of privacy, but his Aunt liked to stop over unannounced and fill his fridge with leftovers. Which, don't get him wrong - he appreciated food and liked his Aunt visiting, but it meant he had to keep his apartment in some semblance of order.]

Woah there, aren't we supposed to do dinner first before I start stripping? [His defense is humor, and the words mask his grimace as he pulls off his gloves and starts in on peeling the blood-soaked spandex from his chest.]

Flip the cushions. Buy new ones. Try to bleed in the bathroom instead when I remember.

[He smirked, first-aid kit in hand as he walked back over. Having privacy was an absolute must for him, especially since he'd graduated from small-time criminals. The fact that he had anyone close to him at all was a constant worry. Matt could only imagine how bad it would be if they lived with him.

This time he pulled a chair up and placed the kit on his knees. Out came a cloth and a bottle of disinfectant. This part was really not going to be pleasant.]

I usually get a pass on the dinner part because I can't see. Take it easy, alright? [He added the last part when he thought of how that spandex must chafe at those open wounds.]

Life-changing, truly.

[It's honestly nothing short of a miracle that Peter had managed to keep his secret this long. So many times, she'd almost caught him, or he'd left bootprints on the carpet, blood on his sheets - hell, the one time he tried to wash his suit in their machine and turned everything red and blue - washing the American flag nice one Parker.]

How is that equality? Here I thought you were a gentleman. [Peter couldn't help the quiet hiss that escaped him as the spandex clung to the wound, and he pulled it off, revealing the wound to open air.]

You need to pick up new techniques if you're going to keep up this lifestyle.

What exactly happened, anyway?

[Matt waited until it sounded like the costume was enough out of the way before soaking the cloth in the disinfectant.

He didn't see the need for a warning. Peter wasn't new to this, knew what the healing process entailed. That, and he could see.

The cloth first went where the sounds of pain had been the worst as Peter removed the suit. The smell of blood was a bit overpowering, making it difficult for him to know for certain where he should focus, so that would have to do. That, and some guidance, assuming Parker didn't pass out from pain.]
Focus on me. Guide my hand.

Like a gentleman. [He added, amused despite himself.]

Maybe I should just go the homeless route and sleep in abandoned warehouses, eating rocks to fortify myself.

[Peter let his head flop back against the couch, taking a second to breath before Matt came at him with the cloth.]

You know, chased a few robbers into an alley, except whatever they were stealing - and whoever they were stealing it for - wasn't playing around. They brought knives to a fist fight.

Ow ow ow ow, [That fucking burned, and Peter did his best to stay still, gritting his teeth as the disinfectant fizzed and bubbled on his chest.] Hardy har. I'm no gentleman, you're the one with the nice suits and devilish charms. I'm Queens trash.

[Peter still clumsily guides Matt's hand down, trying to keep his own from shaking as the disinfectant passes over a deeper gash. Fuuuuck.]

Rocks are probably high in... something.

[Knives. Peter should've been able to handle knives. Sounded like he got a bit clumsy, or that wasn't the whole story.

More questioning could come later, when he wasn't busy torturing the poor kid with that disinfectant. He could hear it reacting with his skin, smell the sharp odor in the air. He knew how ridiculously painful this stuff could be, but it was necessary.

At least he thought it was necessary. Could Spider-Man get an infection? Who knew.]

Good to know my suits look nice. [He smiled briefly before giving Peter a moment to brace himself as the cloth moved over another gash.] I wonder if you stumbled across something bigger than an ordinary robbery. Might be worth looking into further.

Have you seen the picture of the living rock?

[He may or may not have been leaving out the part where he'd taken a pretty hard crack to the head five minutes prior, and consequently was a little slower in the fight with the robbers. He just didn't know when to stop, constantly pushing past his limits. And then this was what happened.]

I know, for a blind guy you're pretty fashionable. Props to you. [Peter groaned, free hand clenching into a fist at the burning.] Probably. That's my life.

[personal profile] jurisdevil 2016-06-07 10:46 am (UTC)(link)
No, I don't tend to see pictures these days.

[If Matt knew about that, he'd be even more frustrated with the situation. Not that he could really blame Peter... he'd done all sorts of fighting while injured before too.

When you had abilities, it wasn't easy to let something go. You always wanted to fight through till the finale, even if better sense said you should escape for your own health and well-being.]

Know many blind guys? [He smiled lightly, finishing up with the disinfectant and pulling the cloth away.] Maybe I'll give you a hand with this one. Seems like you could use it.

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-06-07 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll give you that one but you know what I mean.

[Yeah, Peter was always less-worried about concussions than he should be. He didn't think they'd damage him? Look, he healed fast. It hadn't been an issue.]

One or...one. [Peter sagged into the couch when Matt took away the disinfectant. Thank god.] Nah, don't want to put you out. You don't have to, I'm sure you're busy.

I take on fights as they appear. If this is something big, then it's interesting to me too.

[And it wasn't as though he couldn't take on more than one 'job' at once. This one would probably have to wait a little bit anyway, while Peter recovered and they listened for any news.]

So... the fun part. Stitches.

[He picked up one of the pre-threaded needles and dipped it in the disinfectant. Oh yes, what was better than a blind man stitching you up?

Granted, he was actually quite decent at it once he knew exactly where the wound started and ended.]
Guide me to where I should start, if you think you'll need them.
spideyguy: (36)

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-06-08 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, if you insist.

[Peter winced, lifting his head to look at the long gash. It pretty much stretched the length of his abdomen.]

I'm starting to worry about your definition of a fun Friday night.

[Yeah, Peter was trying to have faith. He'd seen Matt in action, it was like he wasn't blind at all but - he was, and this wasn't a fistfight, this was Peter's stomach split open.]

It uh - here. [Peter gently rests Matt's hand at one end of the wound. If he's admitting it needs stitches, it's safe to say it's bad.]
jurisdevil: (14)

[personal profile] jurisdevil 2016-06-08 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
And I'm worried about yours.

[He knew Peter admitting to the trouble meant it was bad, though he'd been able to tell as much upon finding him in the first place. Anyone with such speedy, enhanced recovery who needed stitches was lucky to have made it at all.

The thought concerned him more than he let on. They all lived risky lifestyles, but he never liked to see one of the others injured. He could only imagine what might have happened if no one had come to Peter's aid, and the thought made his chest tighten briefly.

Matt began stitching slowly and neatly, following the line of the injury and silently apologizing for how painful this must have been. It bothered him that he couldn't cart him off to a hospital, but that was a consequence of this lifestyle.]

Just try to relax.

[personal profile] spideyguy 2016-06-10 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
What's there to worry about? Chinese take out, a few page long chemical equations, and a bank robbery...

[He'd have been killed ten times over if not for his healing ability. Seriously. How do you think he healed from gunshot wounds all on his own, back when he hadn't even had a friend like Matt to turn to?]

There's a blind guy giving me stitches. Stitches. I'm as relaxed as I'm going to get.

[It's a joke, one that Peter's breath catches on because ow fuck, that burns. His fingers twitch against Matt's wrist, just in case he needs to put him back on track of the wound, but he's very neat about it and his aim doesn't stray.]
