WHY
1. Consensual. You and your lover think it's time to start a family. 2. Risk. You don't necessarily want to get pregnant, but the risk is hot as hell. 3. Ownership. You want to get somebody pregnant up because you think that will make them yours. Or you're trying to get knocked up to keep them here. 4. Forced Breeding. Like the stables meme, or something involving the government. 5. Continuing the Line. You need an heir. Simple as that. 6. Accidental. It's either the heat of the moment or you're inexperienced, but this isn't planned through. 7. Humiliation.You're impregnating someone to humiliate them. 8. Interspecies. The two of you are making a child born from the union of two different species. 9. Lovesick. This pregnancy is an expression of your love. 10. Expected. Everyone expects you to have a baby, so you decide to do so. 11. As a Favor. Your friend wants a baby, so you'll act as a surrogate 12. Roleplay. You're just using the idea of pregnancy up as an exciting aide. There's no actual risk here, but you have all the trimmings. 13. WILDCARD.
Pietro had struggled with life back with the Avengers and after the kidnapping. He had gotten a small condo for the two of them so long as he continued to work for the Avengers. With Wanda on board it was easier to work beside the man who nearly killed them as children, but with his own on the way, he had to put that grudge away. His entire world had changed and he believed for the better. Things had gotten difficult when bringing Lydia into the picture with his twin sister around, but he did his best to keep the peace.
Arriving home after a day of training, Pietro called out for the mother of his child as he entered the home. His shoes were wearing thin from his speed and he made a mental note to ask for new ones, but for now he kicked them off and headed towards the kitchen.
None of this feels like it's happening the way it's "supposed" to happen. Lydia always pictured pregnancy happening when she was in her late twenties, after earning her doctorates in biomedical and biochemical engineering. She'd be married and living in a nice house in a quiet little suburb without all the crazy that came with Beacon Hills.
...that's not how it is. But it's still good. She still has the glow she always imagined. She's still thin and pretty with the exception of the fact that her breasts are growing and her baby bump with it. Interestingly enough, she actually really loves her new shape. It makes her feel more feminine and even though she's gaining weight, it seems to settle in all the right places. Things aren't unfolding they way she always pictured they would...but Lydia's happy, anyway.
She's taken to independent study through online courses just to keep her mind fresh. She might never have a chance to earn herself the doctorate, but she can still get herself a Bachelor's if she keeps working at it, plunking away with what classes she can manage when she has the time. So she's in their bedroom with the door open, her laptop on a little pillow-slash-tray, her back propped up with pillows as she's reading the lecture for the day's assignment when she hears Pietro call out for her.
"In the bedroom," she calls back, re-reading the last sentence and then making a highlight on her Word document of notes before saving her changes and pushing the laptop closed. Her hand moves off the computer and gets to her feet, a hand resting over her protruding stomach as she makes her way out of the room and through their modest condo until she finds him in the kitchen. "Don't eat too much, I'm making dinner in an hour," she warns before approaching him and pressing a kiss to his cheek. "How was your day?"
Pietro could have rushed to her, but he was careful now that she was with their child. Even though he could control himself, he knew his speed could so easily throw her off and cause an accident, so he would move slowly in the condo. Turning when she entered the room, he couldn't keep the smile from his lips, like someone had brightened his entire day.
Pietro returns the kiss, "Went by too slow." Which was a normal comment and complaint from him. "I just wanted to come back and see you- which, ah- I supposed I could have slipped away for a quickie- no one would've noticed." Which wouldn't have been completely true- someone would have noticed, but he could have done it.
"How was yours?" His hands easily slid over her expanding torso, feeling for his child, silently hoping he was quick like his father. "Did you do your class?"
Lydia smiled, unable to hold back the soft chuckle that came with his repetitive answer. "You always say that," she pointed out. "...and it's always true," she answered for him, having gotten used to their typical back and forth and knowing what he would say in response. Her eyebrows lifted at the mention of a quickie and she grinned. Lydia loved the fact that Pietro still seemed to be so attracted to her in spite of her growing midsection, which sometimes had her looking in the mirror and feeling proud...and other times looking in the mirror and wanting to cry at her perfect figure being ruined. "I feel like someone might have noticed, sweetie," she said gently, "but it's the thought that counts." She gave Pietro another little kiss as he moved his hands over the bump where their baby was growing.
"Long," she admitted. It got lonely in the apartment without him and when Lydia felt particularly lonely, it was a lot more difficult to concentrate on her studies than she would like to admit, sometimes, especially to herself. "But not bad. I just finished it as you were walking in the door, though, yeah."
One of her hands moved to the side of his face and she smiled gently up at him. "What do you think you want for dinner tonight? How hungry are you?"
