( rain meme )

caught in the rain

It started out quietly, and then, quite suddenly, you're caught in a storm. Time to find cover. Nothing much to do but to wait it out.

Scenarios listed below for those who want 'em.

001 PLAYGROUND - Well, you can try to hide under the slide or maybe in the jungle gym... at least you're some place fun?
002 PARK - Always happens, caught outside trying to take advantage of the weather... and it ends up pulling a fast one on you.
003 STORE FRONT - Better hope they have an awning you can take advantage of
004 THE BEACH - Not exactly the best place to be during a rainstorm, however it is possible to get caught in a sudden storm
005 WILD CARD - Anyway you want it

ii HOW:
001 TREE - Not the best cover, but it'll have to do, stay close to the roots and you won't get too wet.
002 UMBRELLA - Most conventional... Kinda boring. But it works.
003 NEWSPAPER - Not permanent, but it'll have to do. Good luck
004 BAG - Well... y'gotta do what you gotta do.
005 NONE - You know what. You're a rebel. You don't need cover. Screw convention
006 WILD CARD - that's the way you need it

iii WHY:
001 REJECTED - Welp. Rejection sucks. And no one will see you crying in the rain.
002 WAITING - For the bus? For someone else? For some revelation? What are you waiting for.
003 MELANCHOLY - Sometimes the best place to feel a bit down is out in the rain.
004 HAPPINESS - Is everything going your way? Are you singing a refrain while walking down the lane? Just singin. Singin' in the rain.
006 WILD CARD - Anyway you want it.

>> POST with your character
>> TAG others, use RNG if you need to, or just make up your own scenario if you want!

It was just his luck to get caught up in a rain storm on the way back from the little shop he was in the process of getting up and running. A few doors down from the bar called The Rabbit Hole was a fresh sign for The Hattery - which was now drenched. Along with Jefferson.

He shook his head, not grumbling but more musing on how the weather made his mood take a farther spiral down, compared to what it previously had been. His shoes made splashes as he stepped in puddles and his coat stuck of him.

And he'd only taken a few steps down the sidewalk.

Deciding that he should maybe wait it out, Jefferson ducked into the bar quickly. He just had to ignore the irony of the locale's name.

The bar -despite its illusion to Wonderland- was decidedly normal; if not a bit shady. Hey, it wasn't Granny's and the clientele liked it that way. The bar containing dark wood, red walls, leather backed stools and booths as well as pool tables and dart boards.

And Chelsea despite her back story here, remained working at the bar because...where else was a Cheshire to go? Yes, she had been able to travel to the Enchanted Forrest back in the day, but she wasn't from there. The closet thing she had to family anymore was the elusive "Mad Hatter" Jefferson and Grace.

Working the other end of the bar in a short and sparkly gold dress, the blonde didn't spot him at first. When she did however, she finished flirting for more tips and made her way to him.

"I see the downpour finally came, can I get you something?"

"Unfortunately," he states while shaking off the lapels of his long coat. It's not use though. The water has sank into the material already. Jefferson might as well get comfortable, peeling the coat off and draping it over a stool before taking a seat.

"Something warm. Bubbly." Leaning with his chin to a fist, he watches Chelsea for a passing moment before he speaks again. This time, asking a question. "Having fun at work being all dry?" Yes, he was a little jealous. But only because wet didn't equate to happiness.

"In this town?" she questioned, "It could be a lot worse than a little rain." Even so, she walked along the bar as he gave the drink request. Thankfully, with fall right around the corner -or maybe just given who the mayor was- the Rabbit Hole always had cider on hand; which they then spiked with bourbon.

Chess poured him a glass and garnished it a cinnamon stick and orange slice. She smirked at the latter question, placing the drink before him. "Sure, if you don't mind being in heels all day and constant pick-up lines."

She had a point. It could be worse. He could get shoved out another window and land in a whole other world on glass - again. So damp clothes sticking to him wasn't looking so bad. Plus, he had a drink now to warm him up.

Jefferson takes a swig from the glass, smacking his lips afterwords. It was a tasty drink, that he couldn't deny. "Now that is a wonderful thing compared to outside," he gestured to the drink as he spoke.

Chess probably wasn't the best person to talk to in terms of Wonderland being "good" or "bad" if it was or wasn't, it was still home. However, she could appreciate why it was so hard for outsiders to understand.

"It's one of our best," she answered with a purr. As much as the drunks might flirt with her, it was second nature for Chess to do the same while working. It came across much more genuine now, under the initial curse...she'd been right in the thick of it with her customers. She cringed thinking back now, the game was so much more fun with a clear head; not that she'd had a choice back then.
