[Maribelle rolled over in her sleep, a delicious ache spread through the pit of her stomach. The wedding night had been wonderful, and naturally, had tired her out. she held Jack's hand close to her heart as she slept, a gentle smile on her face as she dozed.]

[personal profile] captainhardness 2014-07-02 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Jack had been sleeping quite peacefully for a while, but he started coming back to consciousness long before she would. He opened his eyes when she stirred, matched that soft smile with one of his own, and then closed his eyes again, falling back into a pleasant sort of half-asleep.

Jack had never particularly fancied himself the marrying sort, and after everything that had happened to his family back on Earth, he hadn't expected it to ever happen again. But then more things happened. One tragedy shouldn't cancel out another, and it hadn't, but somehow here he was. And with someone he'd started out thinking he'd never sleep with. Go figure. But right now, you couldn't pay him to be anywhere else.

After a while, he opened his eyes again, a little more awake this time. He spent a long moment just watching her sleep, then planted a gentle kiss on her forehead. He wasn't trying to wake her up just yet, but he wouldn't mind if she did.]

[Had someone asked her at the beginning of their meeting, Maribelle never would have been able to picture herself married to Jack, of all people. But he had grown on her, and his constant support of her throughout their journey had broken the shell around her heart. More than that, she had grown to love her Captain dearly, and now she could never imagine falling in love with anybody else, or picture anyone she would rather spend her comparatively short lifespan with.

She didn't wake, but she turned to meet him and snuggled into his shoulder, a sigh of utter contentment escaping her lips.]

[personal profile] captainhardness 2014-07-02 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, that was cute. Absolutely adorable, and it just made him smile wider. It was amazing to him how happy she looked. After everything that she had been through--that they had--she was so content to just be lying there with him. That meant a lot.

He was torn between letting her sleep and waking her up just so he could kiss her again. For now, he compromised, tracing light touches over her cheek, neck, shoulders... The kiss hadn't bothered her any, so that probably wouldn't, either.]

[A soft murmur escaped Maribelle's lips, and she stirred again, pressing closer to Jack. She had always been a light sleeper, and now was no different, despite the prior evening's activities.]

Mm... ?

[Her eyelids fluttered, but remained closed, though Maribelle gave another sigh]

It's morning.

[She wakes up to the smell of bacon. Sniffing at the air, she rolls out of bed and promptly finds one of his blue button downs to slide on. She forgoes putting anything else along with it, and shuffles her way toward the smell of food. Her hair's mussed and she has to wipe the sleep out of her eyes in order to open them all the way, but she ignores the fact she's probably not particularly attractive and only pauses for a brief moment to sort herself out before finding her way to him. Humming softly, she hugs the doorframe of the kitchen and watches him for a moment. ]

Looks like you've got things all handled.

[Grinning wide enough that the tip of her tongue peeks out between her teeth, she chuckles and pushes herself out of the doorway and heads over to wrap her arms around him and rest her chin on his shoulder.]

What's on the menu this morning, Captain?
captainhardness: (Grin)

[personal profile] captainhardness 2014-07-02 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
[He grins when she appears in the doorway, not the slightest bit put off that she hasn't bothered with prettying herself up. She looks good that way, he thinks. Most people do, when they haven't bothered putting themselves back together and are temporarily content with being however they are. The shirt and nothing else is a fantastic choice, too. Him, he only bothered pulling on a pair of pants, and he notes with some amusement that they have an outfit between them. He leans into her just a little as she wraps herself around him, even as he keeps poking at the food.]

Bacon. Eggs. [He indicates each as he says them.] No bread, unfortunately. I might have some popcorn, if you're desperate. [He turns to shoot her an amused smirk over his shoulder.]
refusing: (tease)

[personal profile] refusing 2014-07-02 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
No, bacon and eggs are perfect. Really! There's only one thing I'm desperate for.

[Laughing, she leaves the statement open for interpretation, she turns her head to place a kiss to his neck. Another one quickly follows, and then she finds she really can't resist giving him a little nip. But before she can get too caught up in him, she pulls away and moves to duck under his arm so she's standing in front of him.]

And I had you plenty last night, so don't think it's much of a desperation, not anymore.

[It's a fun hobby, to flirt with Jack Harkness. She knows she doesn't need to in order to make him interested in her, but it's still something she enjoys doing. Even if he was at least ten times better at it than she was.]
captainhardness: (That sounds interesting)

[personal profile] captainhardness 2014-07-09 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
[He smirks at the comment and shifts just a bit to encourage the kisses. He's almost disappointed when she moves. Almost. He's just as happy face to face. He hooks an arm around her waist as she moves around him, and arches a playful eyebrow.]

Oh really? I hope you're not going to say you've gotten your fill.

[The obnoxious twitter of a cell-phone alarm dragged Ianto out of the depths of sleep. He muttered something indistinct in protest and pressed his face against Jack's shoulder, hoping it would quiet down and go away.

Of course it wasn't about to, given he'd programmed it in the sober light of day to get louder over time. He heaved a sigh, disentangled one arm from the sheets, and grabbed it off the floor to silence the bloody alarm.

Yawning, he sat up, and looked down at Jack, expression softening. Technically last night had been supposed to be a date night, at least until they'd gotten a call about a Weevil in a crowded bar. No fatalities, by some stroke of luck, and most of the witnesses had been so drunk they'd bought the barfight explanation without any Retcon required, but by the time everyone had taken themselves off (or been taken off, in ambulances, for a few) they'd been exhausted. They'd dragged themselves back to the Hub, chucked the Weevil in the cells and fallen into bed together on Jack's cot.

Not that he had any complaints. Well -- one, which was that he was going to buy Jack an unbirthday gift of a larger bed one of these days.

He reached over to sweep Jack's hair clear of his eyes.]

Jack? I'm making coffee. And -- [what did they have that was decent for breakfast? The microwave popcorn was right out, and so were the biscuits.] --toast.
captainhardness: (Faceless)

[personal profile] captainhardness 2014-07-08 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
[Jack made some vague grunt as the alarm went off and Ianto moved to deal with it. In many cases, he was a very light sleeper, and didn't mind something waking him up, but this was one of those moments where he just didn't want to come back to consciousness. So he rolled over just a bit when Ianto moved, and seemed perfectly content to ignore everything--but there really was no disputing the fact that he was awake by that point, so when Ianto's fingers brushed through his hair, he opened his eyes and looked up at the other man.]

Who says you're going anywhere?

[He still had an arm draped over Ianto's waist, and he tugged on him a little to make his point. Coffee and toast actually did sound like a good idea, but... in a minute. Jack was comfortable and really not inclined to move just yet.]
killjoyteaboy: (teasing face)

[personal profile] killjoyteaboy 2014-07-08 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[The corners of Ianto's eyes crinkled with amusement. Jack could be as stubborn as a child when he wanted to, and while it was sometimes completely insufferable, it was also sometimes very cute.

He'd probably object to 'cute.']

I'm not?

[His tone is teasing, but he doesn't make any move to get up.]
captainhardness: (Default)

[personal profile] captainhardness 2014-07-09 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
[Right now, he probably wouldn't object to anything, as long as it wasn't Ianto getting up. The teasing tone earned a bit of a smirk in reply.]

Nope. Not right now.

[The corners of his lips quirked up just a bit more.]

So you can just lie back down for a few minutes.

[If Ianto was dead set on getting up, Jack would probably let him, but it was pretty clear he didn't mind Jack being stubborn right now.]
killjoyteaboy: (that's not what you said last--)

[personal profile] killjoyteaboy 2014-07-09 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, sir. [He settles back in next to Jack, sliding an arm over his waist in turn and smiling.] I suppose saving the world can wait a little longer.

[And since his phone alarm is set for a time that lets him get up, get ready and make it to the Hub on time from his flat, he has a half-hour of margin before he has to worry about getting up and getting ready here. Which he can. He still claims he keeps a few clean shirts and pairs of boxers here on account of the late nights and occasional unspeakable alien goop, but, really, the way he keeps waking up like this is a contributing factor.]
captainhardness: (Smug)

[personal profile] captainhardness 2014-07-10 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[He almost called Ianto on the "sir". Almost. But he also couldn't argue that Ianto was pretty well within his rights to tease him right now. At least he was humoring him, not that Jack would have expected otherwise, based on past experience.]

I think the world will survive. [For a little bit, anyway. Really, if he couldn't take a break from all the disasters every now and then, he would have gone insane a long time ago. He smiled back and shifted a little closer now that Ianto had settled back down.]

The first thing to strike him as he slowly woke was that he was wrapped around a warm body, one arm thrown over a broad, bare chest, legs entangled, and head resting on a firm shoulder. The next was the scent that was too familiar for words, rich and heady with a deep undertone that he knew, knew like he knew the back of his own hand. And that was strange, strange enough to niggle at the back of his mind. He didn't remember the night before, or how he'd wound up in bed with what he guessed was probably a very handsome man (weren't they always handsome? He did have a good eye for people), but that scent-

Jack's eyes slid open as he gave in to the insistence that he wake up and figure out where he was, why he recognized the smell, who he was wrapped around- and then suddenly he was awake a lot faster than he'd thought he would be. Because it wasn't just the smell of the other man he recognized, but the face as well, because it was the face he'd seen in the mirror a million times over. Somehow he'd ended up in bed with- himself? Well... that was a new one. Not to say that he was entirely surprised- he was a time traveler, and the Agency warned all their agents that it was possible to encounter yourself. Of course, they'd also warned that it should be avoided at all costs, that running into yourself could cause a paradox big enough to rip the universe itself apart, that you should never have physical contact with yourself from another point in time, but. There had to be something wrong with that theory, considering there was a lot of touching going on in their current position, and if the way he felt was any indication, there'd probably been a lot more the night before.

Jack arched an eyebrow at himself- and himself- and huffed a soft laugh as he ran his eyes over himself. The other Jack's eyes were closed in apparent slumber, and he was sprawled out on his back, an arm thrown carelessly above his head on the pillow. And he couldn't have been much older than Jack himself, not judging by the looks of him; he looked almost exactly the same, really, as if he was only a little ways in his future. Maybe there'd been some kind of incident with the TARDIS?

Well, either way, Jack wasn't particularly worried. If Time hadn't collapsed by this point, it probably wasn't going to in the next little bit. So, in no rush, he pulled back from the other man to sit up on the (unfamiliar, where had he ended up? This definitely wasn't his room on board the TARDIS) bed.

Alcohol might not affect him the same way it used to, but that didn't mean it didn't affect him at all. Apparently he'd had plenty last night if he thought this was a good idea. But any more logical thoughts about the general safety of the universe aside, who really could resist the idea of picking himself up in a bar?

Okay, maybe that was just him. It was funny, though.

Of course, he wasn't thinking about any of that right at this moment. He was just enjoying the presence of a warm body at the fringes of his consciousness. It took him a long moment to start remembering things, at which point he frowned just slightly and opened a wary eye. Once he caught sight of his other self, though, (and the fact that the room and anything else he could see seemed generally intact) a grin spread over his face.

"Alright. I guess time didn't collapse." Of course, if it was going to, he would have expected something to happen long before now, but still worth noting.

"Doesn't look like," Jack chuckled back, grinning himself in reaction. Made sense, that the pair of them would've had similar waking thoughts, considering who they were, but it didn't make it any less amusing to hear. And of course, "Still, not the brightest idea I've ever had. I was going to hope that, since you've already been where I am now, you knew it was going to be alright, but I think you just blew that thought out of the water."

Which probably should have bothered him more, but somehow he was alright with that. After all, Time was still standing, the universe hadn't erupted due to paradox, and he'd apparently had a very good night. It was too bad he couldn't remember it, of course, but somehow he got the feeling that it was looking to be an equally good morning, which made up for it at least a little.

"So, I don't suppose you know where we are, huh? Or- whether or not we gave the Doctor an excuse last night, before we ended up here?" Because that was about the only thing he was actually worried about at this point. The Doctor- and Rose, both of them- could get kinda cross at him when he didn't tell them before he spent a night out, which was a thought he was still getting used to.
captainhardness: (Smug)

"Right now, I don't remember your side of this at all. But wasn't there something about how crossing your own timeline can mess up your memories for a while?" That sounded vaguely familiar, like it was something mentioned at the Time Agency, but that was a long time ago, and he wasn't sure he'd been entirely paying attention at the time. Still, it wouldn't surprise him. He shrugged. "Maybe I'll remember it once I'm not lying here staring you in the face." That would be interesting, if it happened. Something to look forward to, maybe.

"And I have no idea what you did or didn't tell the Doctor. I haven't seen him for a while. As for where we are, this is my room." And that wasn't one of his best ideas, either, for a lot of reasons. He'd briefly considered not saying so, just to avoid questions, but no one knew him better than himself, and much as there were plenty things he didn't plan on saying to his past self, he knew he'd be caught if he attempted an outright lie. So, here they were. He flicked his gaze to the rest of the room in a casual gesture. "Like it?"

There was an arched eyebrow, and his head tilted slightly, trying to remember. "That sounds about right, yeah. Which means- I'm going to forget this once it's over, huh? Damn."

At least temporarily, it seemed. Hopefully. His memories of that particular lecture were a bit fuzzy- he'd shared that class with a rather enticing woman who'd taken up a good deal of his attention; an up and coming archaeologist, if he remembered correctly, one who specialized in time travel, which was why she'd been there. She'd had beautiful spiral hair, and the wickedest smile, and he'd never stood a chance. Which was what let him here, now, with an imminent memory loss at hand, but also with the prospect of getting it back later. And which also left him with;

"Haven't seen him for awhile?" That was a statement that he wasn't sure he liked. His eyebrow arched higher, as he pushed up into a better sitting position and looked around the room. It looked like the kind of place he'd like, unsurprisingly, and it looked like he was settled. That part was more surprising, because this didn't feel like the TARDIS. And that thought he knew he didn't like.

"Yeah," he answered in response to the question, the tone flippant, but beneath it there was something more serious. He really needed to not think about it, because knowing your own future was something that could only end in disaster, but- "It's nice. Very us."

There was a time he thought his body could not have been sorer, and then he met his other self. And he blew that notion out of the water. At least it was a good kind of sore, radiating from every part of his body, and mostly due to the protest of muscles needing to bend in ways they had not been asked to in a long while and usually not without some multi-armed or even tentacled help.

But it all worked out. He couldn't help but grin up at the ceiling and turn his head to consider the other Jack that lay with him, but exactly like him and yet very different. Weird how that happened, but that was what made it all so very good. His hand slid up and into his hair, stroking the slightly damp locks.

"Come on, you can't be tuckered out yet," he teased him.

[personal profile] captainhardness 2014-07-09 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
Meeting his other self in that arcade had been one of those chance occurrences that just turned out to be excellent. There was absolutely no doubt at this point that narcissistic didn't even begin to describe whatever this was, but it was also readily apparent that neither of them cared.

Besides, they had a business plan to work on. Not that either of them actually took that the slightest bit seriously, but it was a good enough running joke to keep meriting occasional mentions. And it was a good excuse for all of this... but who needed excuses? This was its own reward.

At the teasing question, he gave a laugh, knowing perfectly well that his other self was just as worn out as he was. "What do you think?"

[personal profile] 51stcentury_charm 2014-07-09 03:47 am (UTC)(link)

There would need to be a whole new word in every dictionary known to the universe to describe what was going on with them, but as usual, Jack didn't much care. It was a wonder what centuries - millenia even - could do to a man's self confidence and his lack of worry for what other's thought. He turned slightly so he lay on his side and faced his other self, letting his hand wander up and down his body idly.

"I think we both need to invest in more cardio work outs," he said, leaning over to give him a kiss.
