[She's not really sure how she got here, but somehow she's at a bar with a very drunk Sherlock who is insulting all the wrong people, as usual. He may not notice the anger on the faces of these two men, but she senses that very very soon things are going to erupt. One of the men gets into his face and she tries to take Sherlock's arm and pull him away.]

Well, I think it's time to go!

[Her cheery disposition is forced as she tries to discharge the tension and wedge herself between them. Half the bar has stopped to look at them and she really really hates this kind of attention, but she needs to get him out of here now.]

[Sherlock's never been a fan of drinking. He'd always chosen other vices whenever the time and mood came to indulge in them. But John's bachelor party had been an eye-opening experience. The hangover alone and the missed case were almost enough to keep him from determining an elaborate scheme to research his alcohol tolerance. One shot every twenty minutes and he'd chart the results. He really ought to have stopped after the fifth shot, but he had to ask for the sixth.

At some point, he'd found Molly. He can't remember if he'd texted her or if she'd been here looking for someone to take her home. He'd expressed as much, but that just got him a dirty look and his attention was pulled to those two complete tools at the far end of the bar.

Little did Molly know that the way they got his attention was the way they kept eye-balling Molly in that same way you see a lion eyeing an antelope or gazelle. Predator and prey. And to top it off, they work as a team and they're both married. Which had been the first point Sherlock decided to make about them when he approached their barstools. That went into the fact that one of them suffered from a bladder condition that led him to leak urine uncontrollably and he really should be wearing special pants for that.
]

But he's got a problem. [He complains to Molly, stumbling a little as he turns to face her.] 'M just giving advice. [And picking fights.

But Molly's crowd control works because Sherlock's not sure standing up is too good of an idea anymore. He barely hears whatever feeble-minded insults they fling at his back when they start walking away. Something about being a loser and having to rely on a girl to save him. Nothing remotely intelligent. Almost disappointingly mundane.

[Sherlock's sudden move down the bar to go speak to those men had happened so fast that by the time she'd come up behind him, she had missed how things had started. But what she got was that Sherlock was insulting them for some reason (something about their wives and a bladder problem?)and they weren't the types of men who were just going to let that happen. Especially not from someone as pretentious as Sherlock.

So she's relieved when he doesn't put up a struggle when as pulls him away. She's also surprised that it's so easy, but doesn't stop to think about it or pay any mind to their insults as she drags him out of the bar into the chilly London street.]

Honestly Sherlock, I don't know why you have to anger people everywhere you go.

[Sherlock's focusing too much on making his feet work to do any sort of protesting. Every once in a while, he sways toward Molly, having to catch himself on her shoulder so he doesn't topple over one way or the other. The last time he'd gone out drinking like this, the vertigo hadn't happened until he was back in his flat and he'd spent most of that part sitting down.

Her question goes on deaf ears as he pulls his phone out of his pocket, leaning a little more on her as he does. He opens up a program and shows her the phone.

Blood alcohol at 0.122 percent. See?

[She's got her arm around his back to try to keep them both upright as he leans more of his larger frame onto her. Usually this much physical contact with the man would please her, but at the moment she's focusing too much on not letting him topple her over.

It doesn't help that she's in heels and has also had a few drinks (although nowhere near as many as he must have had).

She looks at his phone.]

Yes, congratulations. You have proven you are in fact as drunk as you appear to be.

No point in it if I can't prove it.

[Sherlock shakes his phone at her with his words. He tries to put the phone back into his pocket, misses twice, then decides to hold onto it.

Luck is on their side as a cab approaches before they have to stand outside for too much longer. It's too cold (which is mildly sobering at the very least) and it's starting to look like the humidity will break into showers soon. Perfect time to go home, isn't it?

[She watches with an amused look as he can't even get his phone into his pocket. It's very rare to see Sherlock in any sort of state but in total control of his brain functions. It's cute, really.

No, Molly, it's not cute. Sherlock is not cute. He's a pretentious arse who most of the time treats you like you're an idiot.

She waves at the cab and then looks at him, his question surprising.]

Uh. Well, he's sexy, I guess. Suave. Good with women. Kind of a misogynist though really...

[She's not really sure why he's asking her that question.]
consulting_freak: (Concentric Fractures)

[personal profile] consulting_freak 2014-02-28 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Molly's answer makes Sherlock snort out a laugh that doesn't sound at all like his usual chuckle.]

That's him.

[Between Molly and the rim of the door, he manages to climb into the cab. He's leaning against the far side door, not bothering to try to put on his safety belt. It won't be a long ride to get back home to Baker Street.]

So you want to watch it, then? John's got the whole set... left it with me when he moved out.

[Sherlock just snorted. Sort of. She looks at him amused. It's rather endearing, really. HIs current state.

She settles into her side of the cab and tells the driver where to go. She's about to mention two stops when Sherlock invites her to watch films with him and she comes up short.]

Oh...uh...you want to.... [She finds herself stuttering and takes a breath because, really Molly, are we going to start this again?]

Yes, I would, thank you.

Good. Good, I'll have Hudders bring up some nibbles.

[If she's awake, which is debatable. It's not terribly late, but it's not early either.

Sherlock is looking forward to having someone to watch the films with. He'd tried to watch them alone once a couple weeks ago, but that had been so depressing he'd stopped part ways through the third scene.
]

And tea. Do you want tea? Or coffee, I suppose.

[His voice trails off as his attention is taken up by his mobile phone. It's a lot harder to text accurately when he's more than slightly pissed. The request he sends ends up reading: Nibbles and caffeine, STAT bond. Thx, SH]
theonewhocounted: (Molly)

[personal profile] theonewhocounted 2014-02-28 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Tea's fine, but don't bother Mrs. Hudson at this hour. I think we can manage that ourselves.

[The cab pulls up at Baker Street and she starts to get out. She figures Sherlock can pay. He owes her after she saved him from getting a good going over by those men.]
consulting_freak: (Prostate Specific Antigen)

[Sherlock starts to get out of the cab without paying and needs to be reminded. He gives an animated 'oh' before taking out his wallet and looking through it. He pays and gives a 43% tip, but he doesn't care to get change before he staggers out of the back seat.]

All I've got in my fridge is milk and toes.

[Meaning no nibbles, but tea is still an option.]

[The short journey across the pavement only has Sherlock lose his footing once. He's starting to adjust to this world of vertigo and is correcting for it subconsciously. His concentration's still shot, though.

Inside and up the stairs, they'll find a tray laid out from Mrs. Hudson. Tea, cream, sugar, biscuits, fruits, cheese, and some crackers. There's a card next to it that just says, 'Just this once. I'm not your housekeeper'.
]
theonewhocounted: (hopeful)

[personal profile] theonewhocounted 2014-02-28 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
[She prays he doesn't lose his footing up the stairs, but they make it up in one piece and she shakes her head at the spread.]

She does like taking care of you. You're quite lucky to have her you know?

[Molly wonders if Sherlock would eat at all most days if it wasn't for Mrs. Hudson and John.

She starts to pull off her coat and kick off her shoes that have started pinching her feet. She hopes he doesn't mind.
consulting_freak: (Super Glue Fuming)

[personal profile] consulting_freak 2014-02-28 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sherlock would go without eating some days without those two. Without John here, he's lost quite a bit of weight (for his frame). Apparently, he'd had the habit of sneaking finger foods near him while he'd been working to trick him into eating without thinking about it. It had worked up until the flat became a single tenant unit.

He doesn't mind Molly getting herself more comfortable. The first thing he does is wobble through the kitchen to get himself a tall glass of water, which he drinks without stopping for breath. Then he pushes past her to go to the bathroom.

With the door shut halfway, he calls out to her midstream (drinking doesn't make for good manners).
]

Uhm, the films. They're, uh, next to the fireplace. Let's watch your favourite one.
theonewhocounted: (Molly)

[personal profile] theonewhocounted 2014-02-28 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[She's used to Sherlock acting like she isn't there or being rude to her, so it doesn't phase her. She's still in shock that he's asked her over to watch movies. Even when he was hiding out in her flat after faking his death, he'd never treated her like a friend; like someone you would spend your leisure time with.]

Oh, uh, okay!

[She calls out down the hall before going to find the set of movies. She's never really thought about which is her favorite. Looking at the set now, she's not even sure she's even seen them all.]
consulting_freak: (Gravity)

[personal profile] consulting_freak 2014-03-01 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sherlock finishes up his business, then walks straight over to his armchair. He almost forgets to turn it toward the television before collapsing onto in a half-sitting, half lying way. He doesn't think to bring the tray over. There's no real guarantee he won't fall asleep before the opening credits are finished, but he still wants to watch something.

Molly holds a strange place in his life. Up until John, he hadn't realised that friends were a thing he could obtain and maintain. And then he hadn't realised their value until he'd lost them for two years. He still doesn't quite know what to do with the friends he's got, but now he can appreciate them.

And, Molly? She'd somehow been a friend all along without him noticing it at all.

[She pulls out "Goldfinger" because, well, Sean Connery is always a good choice and this is classic Bond, before she goes to put it into the DVD player.]

Goldfinger okay?

[Molly asks him as she turns around and finds him lounging there in his chair, still looking totally snockered. She grabs the tray and puts it on the table between the two chairs and then takes a seat in what is usually John's spot. Hopefully he'll eat something. It might help absorb some of the alcohol.

She would be very surprised to hear Sherlock thinks of her as a friend. She sort of assumes John is the only friend he has and really wants and that, like the day Sherlock took her out on a case with him, she's just a poor substitute when John is off being a husband and a father-to-be.]
consulting_freak: (Tomography)

[personal profile] consulting_freak 2014-03-02 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
's fine.

[Sherlock pushes himself a little more upright once Molly sets the DVD into the player. The television's already set to it, since he hasn't really used it much since John's left other than to try and watch one of these same films on his own.]

Maybe you'll tell me... John's never done. Why does he always giggle at the telly when she says her name? Pussy Galore... does it mean something?
theonewhocounted: (hopeful)

[personal profile] theonewhocounted 2014-03-02 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
[She grabs some cheese and fruit as the movie starts and barely near spits them out at Sherlock's question. She thinks at first he's joking that he doesn't know the meaning. But then she realizes he's waiting for an answer.]

You really don't know, do you?

[Well, this is a new feeling for her, knowing something he doesn't. She supposes she could ridicule him for his naïveté (he never passes up the chance), but that's not Molly.]

It's a double entendre since pussy is a slang term for the vagina.
consulting_freak: (Electroencephalograph)

[personal profile] consulting_freak 2014-03-02 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Sherlock just gives a small shake of his head, still looking at her expectantly until she decides to explain it to him. While he waits, he reaches over to pour himself a cup of tea. He spills a little, but it lands on the tray and not on any of the food.]

Oh. And that's why Bond reacts the way he does, too...

[Once he's got his tea and a handful of biscuits he settles back into his chair.]

What's so difficult to explain about that?
theonewhocounted: (Default)

[personal profile] theonewhocounted 2014-03-02 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmhm.

[She nods her head before also grabbing a cup of tea for herself.]

I rather doubt it was difficult for John to explain. It's more likely that he just fancied knowing something you didn't for once.
consulting_freak: (Composite Drawing)

[personal profile] consulting_freak 2014-03-02 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[The tea will help with the dehydration and if Sherlock can stay awake long enough to finish a couple of cups, he might sober up enough to act a bit more like himself.]

He knows plenty I don't... mostly useless information, mind. But there's some other stuff, too. Doctor stuff. Human stuff.

[The beginning credits go ignored and if they're not careful, they're going to talk through the whole film.]
theonewhocounted: (serious)

[personal profile] theonewhocounted 2014-03-02 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[She nods. She knows this about John. About them.]

He suits you. Human stuff is important.

[Doctor stuff you can learn in a book. She's sure Sherlock probably knows more than he makes it sound even about that. But human stuff, you have to be human to learn and often times Sherlock seems anything but. He needs John to remind him that he is and so are the people around him.]
